"I have been using the Chromebox for near two weeks and have found the experience enjoyable. The device does not over-heat and is very quiet. However, what attracts me to the device is the simplicity and below are some useful features:
* There is no bloatware or software that drains and eventually slows down a PC. All the required software is from Google's Chrome store and the OS auto-updates. This device requires little maintenance, as you run the software from the cloud and it is not installed on a local hard-drive. * Boot times are quick and you are ready to go in seconds. * There are lots of software to choose from - from productivity to consuming media; the software covers most computing tasks.
Negatives (issues to consider):
While there are not many negatives, below are some issues to consider:
* The device is not for dedicated users. Yes, for example, you can edit photos with something like Google's Picassa but if you want something more advanced, then there is nothing suitable in the Chrome store. This also applies to other dedicated tasks. It is good to have another laptop to complement the Chromebox, for more advanced tasks (I use the Chromebox for most computing needs but sometimes use my laptop) * If you are off-line, the device is largely limited at the moment. However, Google is working to make more applications available offline. * The Chromebox, if used at home, should get a more reliable internet connection but bear in mind that its speed depends on the quality of the internet connection (the processor is more than adequate to handle multiple tasks and open many tabs). * The Chrome browser does not currently support common fonts like Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New (though this could change, with an upcoming update). Similarly it does support many common Arabic fonts. Google offers its own versions of Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New (Arimo, Tinos and Cousine) but they are still different in appearance, despite similarities. Sometimes, this renders certain texts smaller in default appearance.
To sum, Chrome OS challenges the way we think about computing and so it is still evolving. While the Chrome OS can only improve, you will need to compromise with its current limitations for its many positives (simplicity, little maintenance, improves over time, self-sustaining etc.). I fully recommend this device, if you are willing to make these compromises for the many benefits it offers."

Futuristic and compact design, but lacks performance

"It is a compact version of today's PCs, it has a number of different ports (which is a good thing), it's portable (due to its small size and light weight) and is not much expensive. The only drawback is that it's not as fast as modern PCs and is not at all meant for HD gaming."
Pros: Lightweight, compact
Cons: Did not meet expectations

"I like new technology and I am a fan of Google (even considering that I only had Apple Macs at home). I use Chrome and Google docs at work for everything personal. It is nice to switch on the Chrome Box at home and have access to my files. Google Drive is GOOD. File sharing / collaborative working on Chrome doc is GOOD. The machine is on in sub 10 seconds. I like this. Does everything internet as it should, fast, but NO Skype ability. That is POOR. The fair review is also because you CAN'T PRINT unless your printer is Google cloud ready ... I have an up to date Epson printer , connected to my modem via ethernet cable, I have no problem printing files with a 7 year old Mac laptop ... the Chrome Box NO CHANCE , hence the overall rating is 2. If the is a way to print, well far to complicated. Google your BAD. Other things, have not figured how to play music that I would have on an Itunes, or how to transfer to a device that can be used by Chrome, whilst doing other things simultaneously . Still I am enjoying learning how to use and I like the Google ethos. I will report back again after longer use."
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable
Cons: Did not meet expectations
