No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"It appears that there is no heater in this unit so if the ambient temp of your room is below temp of the temp set on the unit then this unit does not work as you want it to. So if ambient temp of room is 12 degrees and you set the unit to 16 degrees then wine will drop to 12 degrees. I stored my unit in the kitchen so at night ambient temp drops at night when heating is off so temp of my red wine bottles drops below set temp of the unit.
