"I have had this phone for 2 1/2 years, battery life is still good. The phone has been dropped, thrown, kicked and abused in many more ways. This is the second Samsung tough phone I have owned, both are surprise packages. Highly recommended if you are after a solid, reliable and cheap mobile phone. Only issue I have with it now is that the screen is becoming harder to read due to the fine scratches over the screen. If I had used a stick on plastic screen saver the phone would be as good as new."

"very pleased with the phone, enough features to keep up with what is happening in the online environment (gmail, yahoo mail, outlook, facebook), easy synchronization, very powerful torch, approx 10m total darkness. you pretty much battery, network signal strong, solid case, I recommend it."

"Being a heavy duty man I needed a heavy duty cell Phone, when I went to the phone shop!!! I chose the badest, most heavyduty and functional phone there was on the shelf!!! It's the GT-B2710 Samsung cell!!! I've had it for over a year and it has never let me down!!!, can't say that about the others!!!! Oh!!! You'll find more fancy and functional cells out there but try the punch test on these and you'll be disappointed as you send you phone in for repairs!!! Then again you can have two: the heavy for work and the functional for play!!!"

"This phone has been stood on by my 750kg horse, it was also accidentallydropped in his feed bucket of sugar beet and left overnight. It has been dropped in kettle and brought almost to the boil without any damage.
Ive had it 12 months now,charge it every Sunday and Friday night.Yes, five days between charges and i do hammer it. It seems to find a signal in the weakest of areas and the audio quality for conversations is outstanding.I have a separate sat nav and a lap top, so would i go back to a smartphone? No chance!"

"This the phone does exactly what it says on the tin. If your not looking for a smart phone then this is the phone to have. It is a simple and robust phone and has some very useful features."

"I decided to try out this phone as I was sick of touchscreen phones with too many features and poor battery life. This device is a breath of fresh air thanks to its no nonsense design and simplicity. It still allows me to visit facebook and do occasional web browsing thanks to the 3G.
The quality of calls is first rate thanks to noise cancelling technology, the alarm is stupidly loud and texting is a breeze on the grippy large keys which allow you to operate the phone even with gloves on.
I live on an old street without any lighting so the built in LED torch is absolutely fantastic, it gives out a very bright beam and having it on a phone makes perfect sense.
The battery life is brilliant too as this phone has a very large capacity battery. Meaning long intervals between charging and impressive talktime and standby times.
The screen is reasonably bright and clear although some web pages have very small text but this doesn't really bother me too much.
It has all the handy features you'd expect such as calender, memo, calculator etc with some additional more unusual ones such as a very accurate pedometer and similarly accurate digital compass. These features combined with the torch and bombproof build makes it ideal for outdoor types.
This brings me to the rugged side of this phone. I have dropped it many times, used it in the shower on numerous occasions and even submerged it in a pint to show it off down the pub. It takes everything you can throw at it on the chin. Its simply brilliant!"

"This is a review of the Samsung GT-B2710 Immerse phone - the rufty-tufty waterproof, shockproof and dustproof model.
I was expecting something much bulkier with a heavy-duty rubberised coating and a spongy feel to it. Instead it's smooth plastic and much more sleek - quite a pleasant surprise and it really doesn't look any different to a less-rugged phone. I also like the ability to add a lanyard to fasten to a rucksack, belt, canoe or hang it around my neck.
In terms of performance, it's not a smartphone, cannot pretend to be, and anyone who's been spoiled by a fast, high-performance smartphone is going to be sadly disappointed by it. But, if you've had a smartphone and discovered that they're just too fragile for putting in a pocket and sitting on, dropping in the street or using in the rain - then this could be the phone for you, particularly if you're an active or outdoorsy person looking for a phone to match your lifestyle.
Construction feels solid unlike many phones which feel quite flimsy and fragile. It's easy to hold, the keypad has larger keys than every other phone I've used and there's a positive feel to them. They're also very easy to see, illuminated in the dark and a doddle for texting, even with cold hands or gloves on. The screen has an anti-scratch coating so dropping it into a pocket with your keys isn't going to cause much damage although the rear camera lens, which is only slightly recessed, remains vulnerable.
It's a simple phone to operate with all the usual facilities available from various menus - camera, video, sound recording, music player, radio, multiple alarms, organiser, email (complete with pre-installed settings for hotmail and gmail) and there are apps for Facebook, Twitter and Google Maps. There are a few other good features - a compass, pedometer (which is surprisingly accurate) and a good LED torch. The fixed focus camera is OK - it's nothing special and not up to the same crisp image quality you can expect to find on Sony Ericsson phones but it's acceptable for snapshots and pics can be edited and effects added. The video function is very poor though and the low resolution clips are virtually unusable. The music player is good with excellent sound and the radio reception, using the supplied headphones, is very crisp.
Performance as a phone is very good with logical, intuitive menus, customisable shortcuts, good volume for incoming calls and I'm told that I can be heard clearly on it.
Internet performance is good for a basic non-smartphone and it benefits from 3G, but it's nowhere near the experience offered by a good smartphone. It accesses the internet fairly quickly and is good for general browsing but don't expect to do an online supermarket shop with it! You can check the weather, catch up on news, visit sites such as BBC mobile and the character size can be increased by pressing the volume up button on the side of the handset. However, there are some shortfalls: when entering text on a few sites, predictive text wouldn't work and the character size is so tiny that even with my very good reading eyesight, I couldn't read it but had to rely on carefully inputting the correct letters. However, for general casual browsing, Facebook and Twitter updates, it's fine.
This is a phone you can use with confidence in any environment without worrying about it getting knocked, scratched, wet or damaged. If you drop it, it will survive. If you tip a drink over it, just rinse it off, if it falls in the loo - no big deal. This phone will survive just about anything in normal day to day life. I use it with animals and know I can wash it when it gets dirty, I've used it while canoeing and for taking photos then uploading them to Facebook while still in the middle of a lake, it can go on a beach without worrying about sand ingress so it really is a go anywhere phone and one that isn't going to let you down - and with its long battery life, you can take it away on a week's holiday knowing that it may even last all that time without needing charging!
It might not be the trendiest and most high-tec phone but it's one that you can rely on."

Cons: Not high def, not the best phone for internet access, performance can't match a smartphone, video is too low resolution to be usable, camera images are too soft

"my phone fell out of the telehandler when i climbing in to it to drive i didnt realise it had fallen out .i drove away and came back then one of the brickies found my phone on the floor with a cracked screen and it was still working .the telehandler weighs around 13 tons even that didnt kill the phone .it has also had drops from roofs as i also do roofing as well"

"Had my solid immerse for a month now and so far I'm impressed, if you understand that it's not mean to be a fancy all singing all dancing smartphone than you won't be disappointed at all.
The GT-B2710 is your trusty friend who will never let you down in any situation, it looks and feels solid to use without being to like a brick and you can be confident that it will remain in one piece should it get knocked about or even dropped onto hard surfsces which has been the demise of my last HTC smartphone!This is the main reason I choose this handset as have a habit of dropping moblies!
The OS is a bit bit basic but I like the fact it is uncomplicated unlike most mobiles these days which seem a nightmare to navigate around to do the most simplest of tasks and I find it far easier texting on this device rather than a touch screen. Each to their own.
The camera could have been a higher res but it's far from dreadful, quite odd there is a torch but no flash but hey ho.
When I read the instruction booklet I had to check I had the right handset as it says don't do all things with the handset that it states you can do on the Samsung solid immerse spec and tech guide right here!! Online it says you can take it white water rafting and not worry about water damage etc but in the user guide it states don't get it wet and dry it straight away if it does?! Rather conflicting info from Samsung.
All in all a decent little phone, solid, smart and reliable with an easy to use OS on the handset and you don't have to worry about being slightly careless, now drop your iphone from a 2m height and see if it comes off unharmed than leave it in some water for 30 mins LOL"

"I need to take a phone out to sea with me dinghy sailing, in a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) and canoeing so that I can launch a lifeboat as a Deputy Launching Authority (DLA) for our Lifeboat station. I also need a phone that is rugged as I am always dropping them. I don't need excess technology as I have a PDA for that kind of connectivity.
This phone has been immersed several times during capsizes, covered in mackerel blood and dropped many times, all of which it has shrugged off with ease. It still looks brand new. The torch is really handy.
I have two critisisms, beyond that I don't need the smartphone functionality & camera. First is that it would be great to have a screen that is visible in sunlight. Second the extremely useful torch comes on in my pocket.
Ditch the technology, the camera & give it a mono screen like all phones used to have and it would be perfection. As it stands it's still great."

"as a fisherman i can't decied when and were i might get wet and needed a phone that just takes it and this phone does . i have been washed from one side of a deck to the other in a force 6 gale and the phone did'nt even notice it's been dropped in boxes of ice and fish, covered in blood, guts ,sea water and oil and the best thing is you can just rinse it off under the tap and it works great and even when the wind is howling you can hear people on the other end of a call and vise versa,plus the torch is great"

I have had other tough phones that werent so tough but this one stands up to the misuse I give it. Fairly stylish for a tough phone too. Loud ringer and nice clear sound. Amazingly I get a signal where others dont too, something that isnt advertised as a feature but should be.I can say this phone has yet to let me down. This really is the Volkswagen of the phone world, RELIABLE AND WELL BUILT."

"Ive had my B2710 for 3 weeks now, after reading many reviews good and bad. So far its been great, a good solid feel to it, clear screen and good features. ive not had any issues with text freezing or software issues (yet!) Cant say about waterproof or impact as not needed to test that yet !, the T9 predictive works best of any ive had yet, enlarging inbox texts is very useful. It would have been nice for the screen to be slightly larger. Battery lasts ages. FM radio briefly cuts out sporadically which is odd. supplied headphones rubbish so get sennheisers with an adaptor for great sound. Torch great. So far very happy."

"I work outdoors with livestock so I'm please to have such a rugged sturdy phone. My only criticism is that the phone tends to lock up, especially when I'm in the middle of sending or receiving a text. The only way I can resolve this is to take out the battery and restart my phone. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?"

"I work as a teacher of outdoor pursuits and have ruined several phones through water logging . I wanted a phone able to cope with capsizes, torrential rain and drops on rocks. I also wanted a good battery life and easy to use with cold hands. The solid immerse is a good phone for. All of this. Not a great phone but on the way. A two week trek in monsoon Nepal needed only one charge and that was from a solar source. Lots of rain and dunkings in rivers have easily been shrugged off so the phone does what it says. Why not five stars? Samsung software not as user friendly as Nokia, the key lock / unlock is fiddly , blue tooth accessories awkward to set up. Would I buy another one? Yes and I expect the next model to be even better."

Also the Orange firmware lets the torch switch on with the keypad locked so your bettery mysteriously goes flat because it has been on in your pocket. Asside from that a great phone and mine got knocked in the sink full of water with no problems."

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"It might be happy being dropped in water or on concrete, but Samsung Customer Services tell me that this phone isn't guaranteed to survive being in your back pocket if you sit down. I was surprised and rang agin - I got the same answer.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"My husband bought me this phone because of the supposedly tough and durable exterior, as I have two small boys and have had other phones broken from being knocked to the ground by tiny hands. But the screen is already scratched after 3 months, just from being carried in a pocket! Ridiculous."
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, not at all scratch proof!

"Do not get one. Software is unreliable, buttons not easy to use with gloves on. Sound quality is poor, microphone is poor."

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"I have a pretty busy life and my phone gets a bit of a knocking. Hence i bought a solid immerse. well if they could sus out how to make usb connection waterproof and stay waterproof they might have a good phone. dont expect to be able to sync to a computer easily. kies is a waste of time on the odd occasion it will connect, pc studio only connects in certain modes. next time i'm buying the nokia with a torch its cheaper and lasts a lot longer."
Pros: torch is good, excellent paperweight
