You can plug in a charger to charge your phone while it’s docked. What’s more, you can also connect audio equipment such as an amplifier to make the most of audio you play on your phone. You can even watch video or use it as a digital photo frame to display all your images.

A glorified charging-stand

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"The stand doesnt hold the phone securely due to a sprung (but unguided) connector, doesnt allow basic MTP connectivity or syncing but it does charge my i9505. Its a sad state of affairs when taping a usb cable to a toilet roll offers more features than a genuine samsung product"

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"I bought this as it was the official Samsung dock, to go with an SIII, but instantly regretted it: primarily as the phone is not held securely on the sides, and the shiny back support offers no friction to prevent the phone moving if you try to use the touch-screen. At the bottom the phone is held only by the USB connection, either side of which the base supports are sprung-loaded (why?), further enhancing the wobble. Another aspect to be aware of is that you can't sync to a PC when docked. Admittedly they do tell you this in the small-print, but I wasn't expecting that limitation, so didn't look for it. Apart from that the build-quality is good, and it would make a nice travel-dock, but it's not what I would call a desktop dock."

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"The DesktopDock was brilliant before the Jelly Bean update to my Galaxy S3. I had it connected to a USB socket on the rear of my PC. Since the update to Jelly Bean however, the phone does not charge if the dock is connected to a PC USB connection. It does charge if it is connected to a mains charger. I'm certainly not going out and purchasing another charger. Lets have a patch for this please Samsung."
