Don't buy Samsung AA-AV2N12B (micro VGA-VGA) adapter - try AA-AH1NAMB (micro HDMI-VGA) instead

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"For a Samsung Series 9 Notebook, don't buy the AA-AV2N12B (micro VGA-VGA) adapter as it gives a horrible picture quality for such an expensive item.
Consider the AA-AH1NAMB (micro HDMI-VGA) instead - though I haven't tested it yet."

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
"This item says it is a general vga adaptor, BUT the compatible products tab says it only works for series 9
There is also a series 7 adaptor.
I wanted one for series 5 but web site has no information and the userguide for laptop is vague in the extreme."
